About

The AYSO EPIC Soccer Program offers soccer for players with disabilities, with each player paired with a volunteer buddy who plays with or next to them. The program includes a jersey, socks, shorts, and insurance as part of the registration fee. It is a different program than the Open Recreation Soccer Program.

• Ages: 4–18 years old
• Schedule: 10 week program in Fall and Spring on Sunday afternoons
• Price: Total Fee is $75 -- $50 for South Bay EPIC AYSO Soccer -- $25 for annual AYSO National Fee (valid from Aug 2025 - Jul 2026). The total registration fee is non-refundable.

The mission of the AYSO EPIC Program is to provide players with disabilities the additional support they need to fully participate in a quality soccer experience, with a goal of offering a holistic AYSO experience for players, families, and volunteers, including team uniforms, playing on a team, and cheering from the sidelines. AYSO has rebranded its VIP Program to EPIC, which stands for Everyone Plays In our Community, and describes this as an inclusive program for kids with disabilities and for mentally and physically challenged players of all ages, for players 4 years and older. AYSO Area 2J serves communities from South Silicon Valley (South SF Bay) to Santa Cruz and Monterey and is described as an all-volunteer organization committed to providing an enjoyable experience for all players and family members, experienced or not.

EPIC Coaches and EPIC Buddies are expected to complete common courses including Fingerprinting, Risk Status (Background Check), and Safe Haven. EPIC Buddies should also take the EPIC Buddy Training online course. EPIC Coaches should also take SafeSport, Sudden Cardiac Arrest, Concussion Awareness, EPIC Volunteer Training online, and at a minimum the 6U Coach Course (online), with the 10U Coach Course (half online and half in-person field session) identified as the ideal option.

AYSO invites kids from all around the Bay Area to participate in this inclusive program for kids with challenges in areas such as cognitive or development, vision, sensory, deafness or hard of hearing, speech or communication, and mobility. American Youth Soccer Organization has announced a partnership with the US Center for Mental Health & Sport focused on player and volunteer wellness, a partnership with Northland Sports Alliance expanding soccer programming in Kansas City, and a partnership with Chicago Public Schools to enhance youth sports programming. AYSO has also announced a partnership with BEEUP, a honey-based fruit snack brand co-founded by David Beckham, as the Official Fruit Snack Partner for the 2025–2026 season.
