California Cricket Academy was founded in 2003 as the first cricket academy and youth league for children in the United States. The program recruits certified coaches who have played cricket at the highest level. Its mission is to prepare kids for the Under-19 World Cup, to instill discipline and sportsmanship, and to offer a sustained world-class coaching program. Programs are structured to provide a clear growth path for each age group and skill level starting from beginner level, and coaches conduct continuous player assessments with recommendations to prepare them for competitive cricket.

California Cricket Academy is described as California's premier youth cricket academy and the first all-youth cricket coaching academy with nine teams in the United States. It offers year-round programs for boys and girls, organizes multiple games every weekend, hosts and participates in several national and local tournaments for various age groups, and encourages girls-only training. It is the only academy with a dedicated girls’ team that travels to the UK every year and the only academy to have a travel team of girls ages 10 to 13. It is also the only academy that promotes long format games including 3-day games, and it introduced live webcasting of the Junior National Tournament and cricket at the grass-root level in the USA. The academy reports having the best and largest infrastructure among academies in the country, allowing players to play the most number of games in the country.

California Cricket Academy is a federally recognized nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. It has received the International Cricket Council Best Junior Development Program Award and other awards three times, as well as various awards in several ICC Americas Youth Development categories. The academy has a Congressional Achievement Certificate from Congressman Mike Honda (2007) and a Best Small Business Award in 2017 in recognition of its contribution to the City of Cupertino. CCA teams have won several National Junior Championships in all age groups since 2004, won the local NCCA youth league in all age groups in 2018 and 2019, and won UK County championships in Somerset three times in the last five years. CCA has trained over 3,000 players, and more than 100 CCA players have represented the USA in senior, Under-19, and Under-15 cricket teams at ICC tournaments; for the last 10 years, at least 4 to 6 players each year have represented USA U19 and U15 teams.

The founders of California Cricket Academy are Hemant and Kinjal Buch. Hemant has a master’s degree in Industrial and Systems Engineering, works with a leading high-tech company in Silicon Valley, and is a visiting professor at San Jose State University. The academy has received various awards and certificates from a US Congressman, a State Assembly Senator, the Santa Clara County Chamber, and CitySTAR Awards from the Cupertino Chamber of Commerce for its contribution to the community.

Sachin Tendulkar, former Indian international cricketer and captain of the Indian national team, has congratulated California Cricket Academy for its efforts in conducting cricket coaching camps, developing cricket in America, and giving opportunities to young cricketers at the grass-root level, and noted that the ICC has appreciated these efforts.
