About
Cupertino Hoops is an all-volunteer basketball league. Players participate in basketball practices and games, and the league describes itself as “Positive, Competitive, Fun !”.
• Ages: 9–14 years old
• Schedule: Practices typically take place on weeknights at 6pm or later, starting in late October or early November, with games usually on Saturdays and Sundays (and occasional mid-week games) from early December through an end-of-year tournament in mid-February or early March
• Price: The registration fee for the 2025-26 season is $350 including a uniform and basic photo package, or $285 if reusing a uniform from the previous year
Cupertino Hoops had its first season in 1989-90. Jim Thompson is one of the founders of Cupertino Hoops. The league’s primary goal is to create a positive culture for youth basketball and a place where kids learn to love to play the game. Cupertino Hoops is a long-time member of the Stanford Positive Coaching Alliance, and all coaches must be certified as “Positive Coaches” by participating in a training session conducted by the Positive Coaching Alliance. Quality, paid officiating is used for games, and parents and coaches must sign and agree to the Cupertino Hoops Parent/Coaches Pledge. Priority in player placement is given to returning families and coaches’ children, and sub-divisions are typically created for divisions with eight or more teams.
