Academy of Martial Arts Shotokan

Academy of Martial Arts Shotokan offers instruction and training in karate. The program includes instruction in karate and programs for physical fitness.

Academy of Martial Arts Shotokan has been offering instruction and training in karate in the Bay Area since 1989. The program is headed by a staff of expert instructors and managers. Academy of Martial Arts Shotokan is a member of the International Shotokan Karate Federation (ISKF). Membership in ISKF means belt rank from this program is recognized by ISKF clubs all over the world, and students who relocate to another state or country can continue their training at any ISKF club. ISKF offers weekend training camps taught by professional karate instructors, and all karate practitioners, regardless of affiliation, are welcome to participate at these camps. ISKF holds an annual National karate tournament, with the tournament held in a different state in the United States each year. The ISKF World Shoto Cup Tournament and the ISKF Pan American Tournament are held every four years, alternating every two years. AMAS and the ISKF Northwest Region hosted the 29th and 37th Annual ISKF National Karate Tournament in the Bay Area in 2007 and 2015. ISKF follows the Dojo Kun and Niju Kun principles created by Master Gichin Funakoshi.
