California School of Martial Arts (CALSMA Taekwondo & Boxing) offers separate class times for different age groups, including kids 6–9 years old on Fridays from 4:00–5:00pm and Saturdays from 10:00–11:00am, youth 10–17 years old on Fridays from 4:00–5:00pm and Saturdays from 9:00–10:00am, and adults 18 years and above Monday–Friday from 10:00–11:00am and Saturdays from 8:00–9:00am. The program includes a Life Coaching Program in every membership, and Life Coaching classes are described as an integral supplement to physical training and a vital part of the curriculum. The curriculum is described as prioritizing students’ progress in honing essential foundational skills, and students are taught respect, discipline, self-confidence, and service. Enrolled students have access to numerous complimentary gatherings, and membership options include unlimited access to classes tailored to belt or age level, along with a range of membership choices.
California School of Martial Arts LLC (CALSMA Taekwondo) was founded after More Than Medals Taekwondo in Daly City temporarily suspended its Taekwondo program, with Master Osmundo “Jun” Quitain having been a pivotal figure at More Than Medals Taekwondo since 2005 and Charmaine Quitain volunteering there from 2008–2022. Master Osmundo “Jun” Quitain, a 5th Dan Kukkiwon-certified Black Belt, leads and co-owns the school with his wife, Charmaine Quitain. At CALSMA Boxing, Coach Irwin and his team are described as combining their expertise and shared passion for the sport to create a training environment rooted in family values, support, and determination. The mission statement for CALSMA Taekwondo states that the program prioritizes holistic physical and mental development, emphasizes character building in a safe and positive learning environment, and aspires for students to excel in martial arts and emerge as exemplary citizens who contribute positively to their communities.
Master Osmundo “Jun” Quitain is a Gold Medalist at the 2024 USA Taekwondo National Championship in Sparring, a member of the 2024 USA Taekwondo National Team, and the 2023 California State Champion. CALSMA is described as home to state and national champions, with students winning titles at the 2023, 2024, and 2025 California State Championships, medaling at the 2024 and 2025 USA Taekwondo National Championships, and earning several championship titles at the 2025 USA Season Finals. The school’s Demonstration Team has been named AAU State Champion and has won the USA Dream Open Championship three times. Coaches in the boxing program are USA Boxing Certified Coaches. The program states that its ultimate goal is for students to exemplify the tenets of Taekwondo in all areas of life, becoming “Champions in the Game” and “Champions in Life.”
