Pence Gallery Art Programs

Pence Gallery Art Programs offers Art in Action: Family Art Workshops for ages 5-12. The workshops are drop-in, require no registration, and have a class size limited to 25 people on a first come first served basis. All materials are included, and children do art projects with family members. The program also offers Healing Arts Program workshops for adults 18 and older, Stained Glass Workshop with Salty Bird Glass for ages 14 and above, and watercolor, drawing, and mixed media workshops.

• Art in Action: Family Art Workshops — 5-12 · every month; Sunday, September 20, 1-3 PM · $5–$10 per session · Drop-in program; no registration required; class size limited to 25 people on a first come first served basis; all materials included; engages kids in art projects with family members.
• Healing Arts Program — 18 and older · six-week workshop; Fridays, 10-11:45 AM; one-time workshops Oct. 26 and Nov. 12, 10-11:45 AM · $5–$35 per session
• Stained Glass Workshop with Salty Bird Glass — 14 and above · Sunday, October 11, 1-3:30 PM · $125–$140 per session · No prior stained glass experience is needed; all materials included; learn Tiffany-style stained glass; space is limited; before registering, read about safety & liability.
• Layered Beginnings: An Abstraction by Design Workshop with Michael Shemchuk — Saturday & Sunday, November 14-15, 10 AM-4:30 PM · $320–$350 per session · Mixed media workshop; materials not included; some prep assignments will need to be completed before the workshop starts; download a materials list.
• Abstract Drawing Themes & Techniques: A Small Sketchbooks Workshop with Sara Post — Saturday & Sunday, November 21-22, 10 AM-3:30 PM · $370–$390 per session
• Intermediate Watercolor with Misuk Goltz — Tuesdays, 10 AM-12 PM; September 1, 8, 15, 22, 29 · $170–$190 · Five-week workshop for participants with previous experience with watercolor techniques and color blending; materials not included.
• Intermediate Watercolor with Joanne Andresen — Wednesdays, 9-11 AM; September 9, 16, 23, 30 & October 7, 14 · $165–$175 · For continuing watercolor students; students should be familiar with watercolor materials and basic techniques; materials not included; students will supply their own materials.
• Figure Drawing Group — 18 and up · every 2nd & 4th Wednesday of the month, 6:30-9 PM · $15–$22 per session · Self-guided figure drawing sessions with a nude model; no formal instruction; artists should bring their own drawing materials; limited to the first 10 participants who register per session.

About the provider

Providing educational programs to visitors of all ages is central to the Pence Gallery’s mission. The 2nd Friday ArtAbout is a free, monthly artwalk in downtown Davis with over ten participating venues.

Art in Action is drop-in with no registration required and class size limited to 25 people on a first come first served basis. Healing Arts Program requires online registration and is limited to the first 8 participants. Figure Drawing Group is limited to the first 10 participants who register per session and no refunds are offered for attendee cancellations made with less than a week’s notice.
