Redbud Montessori is a preschool and full-day Kindergarten school where children have free access, with staff, to 6½ acres of wooded property for hands-on studies of plants, animals, and ecosystems. The grounds include many native species of trees and shrubs, such as Oaks, Buckeye, Toyon, and Redbud, and the land has varied contours that invite children to explore outdoors.

Redbud Montessori opened on September 4, 1984, and was founded in Davis in 1984. It was legally incorporated in June of 1984 as a nonprofit, public benefit corporation governed by a Board of Directors consisting of four parents, two staff members, and one community representative with expertise in education. Redbud Montessori’s mission is to offer children of diverse backgrounds and levels of ability a quality, non-profit, full-day Montessori program in a natural setting that is integrated with the community, follows principles of parent governance and parent/staff involvement, and follows the teachings of Maria Montessori. The school states that it not only meets State requirements, but also constitutes an attractive, easily managed, and intellectually stimulating environment for young children. Redbud Montessori School does not discriminate on the basis of race, national origin, religion, disability, sexual orientation, or gender. Redbud Montessori wanted a school that was involved in the life of the community and open to all who wished to learn more about the Montessori approach to education.
