Summer Adventure Camps offers day camps, teen adventure options, and specialty experiences such as sports camps, music camps, Montessori camps, Camp & Swim, Young Chefs Academy camps, and ceramics or jewelry making camp. Campers take part in structured activity rotations, swim lessons in certain programs, and field trips that are available only to those registered for a full camp day. Teen Leaders in Training (LIT) gives teens the chance to serve in Junior Camp Counselor roles while completing an application, an online independent program, and an in-person interview.
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: Summer Season 2026 runs June 1–August 7, with weekly themed day camp sessions, 1-week Teen LIT and specialty camps, 2-week Camp & Swim sessions, Montessori sessions from June 1–26 and June 29–July 31, and Skyline Summer School PM After Camp from June 10–July 9
• Price: $140–$305 per week for day camps, plus $75 per day drop-in options at some sites, a $60 annual fee for Oceanside day camp, and $500 for the Skyline Summer School PM After Camp session
The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego, which runs Summer Adventure Camps, is to inspire, develop, and enrich young people to reach their fullest potential as confident, responsible, caring members of society. The organization has a history that includes the opening of multiple clubhouses and programs beginning in 1952, expansion to serve both male and female youth in the 1990s, and a merger in 2024 that formed Boys & Girls Clubs of Northwest San Diego. It is defined as a Major Metro Organization by Boys & Girls Clubs of America and is described as a 2025 Hero for Youth by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.
Camp & Swim is offered in partnership with the Aquatics Center and includes swim lessons in the morning, lunch, and day camp activities in the afternoon until 3:00 pm. Transportation from Polster to Del Mar is available for Del Mar Clubhouse specialty camps, and transportation from Polster to Harper is available as an add-on for Camp & Swim. Optional camp add-ons include AM/PM care, AM Day Camp add-on, PM Day Camp add-on, transportation add-on, and field trips add-on.
The program offers a 10% sibling discount and a 10% military discount, and financial assistance may be available for qualifying families, with discounts not combinable and applied by contacting the clubhouse before enrolling. Camp days are non-transferable and cannot be credited toward other programs, and refund requests are only considered when a camper is unable to participate due to a medical condition excused by a licensed medical professional. After enrollment, families receive a Parent Welcome Packet with information such as policies and procedures, suggested attire, illness and medication guidelines, sunscreen policy, and complete terms and conditions. The organization states that it emphasizes an inclusive environment welcoming all races, sexual orientations, ethnicities, identities, religions, and abilities.
