About
Youth Basketball is an indoor co-ed basketball program that includes games and a Skills Day for participants age 6 and older. The program is designed to teach and enhance basketball knowledge and skills in a recreational and fun atmosphere for children ages 4–13. Games are played on Saturdays, with practices and games running from January through March.
• Ages: 4–13 years old
• Schedule: Games on Saturdays, with practices and games from January through March
The Youth Basketball program is part of the City’s athletic offerings for the youth of Diamond Bar and is designed to build self-esteem and teach the basic fundamentals of the sport in a safe and positive environment. Using the model of Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM), the program is designed so children can make friends, develop sportsmanship, learn how to compete and cooperate, cultivate leadership skills, be physically fit, and develop a positive self-concept in an enjoyable recreation environment. Volunteer coaches are essential to the City’s youth sports program, must be at least 18 years of age (or 16 with parent permission), and experience is helpful but not required. A City-wide Parent’s Code of Ethics is signed by all parents prior to children participating in the program. Recreation Coordinator Daniel Garcia leads the program.
