About

Youth Sports - Basketball is an indoor co-ed basketball program that includes games and a Skills Day as part of a larger youth sports program. The program also includes a volunteer coach application process for adults and older teens who want to coach.

• Ages: 4–13 years old
• Schedule: Games are played on Saturdays, with practices and games running from January through March

Recreation Coordinator Daniel Garcia oversees the program. The City’s youth athletic programs, including Youth Sports - Basketball, are designed to build self-esteem and teach the basic fundamentals of the sport in a safe and positive environment. The program uses the model of Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM), and children participate under a City-wide Parent’s Code of Ethics that all parents sign before their children take part. Participants age 6 and older take part in a Skills Day, and the activities are designed to teach and enhance basketball knowledge and skills in a recreational and fun atmosphere.

Volunteer coaches are essential to the City’s youth sports program. Volunteer coaches must be at least 18 years of age, or at least 16 years of age with parent permission, and experience is helpful but not required.
