About
Around the World Learning Center offers stories, music and movement, outdoor excursions, and hands-on learning as part of its daily activities. The program includes reading readiness, phonemic awareness, pre-reading and writing, and interactive learning. Children also participate in activities focused on STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art and mathematics), language and social-emotional development, and large gross motor development.
• Ages: 2–8 years old
• Schedule: Monday through Friday, 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, with a summer schedule from June 4 through August 8, 2025
Since 1998, Around the World has offered an interactive program. The center offers part-time and full-time schedules, summer school, and preschool open enrollment, and it is now enrolling children 2 years through 1st grade, including a TK and elementary age group from 4 years through 3rd grade and TK through 1st grade. Staff members are trained and qualified, hold CPR and Pediatric First Aid certification, are cleared through the FBI, DOJ (Department of Justice) and Child Abuse Index, and include bilingual staff. The program maintains low teacher-child ratios and accepts state and county programs MAOF, CRYSTAL STAIRS, and DCFS. The center operates in accordance with California’s Senate Bill 277 (SB277). It is still serving the Downey community and its surrounding areas. Families are informed that students are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing and non-slippery closed-toe shoes with Velcro, that shoestrings are highly discouraged, that non–potty-trained students require diapers and wipes, that fast food is not permitted, that special dietary requirements are observed, that students must have an updated yearly physical, and that the immunization record must be free of tuberculosis.
