About

Kids/Teens Animal Camps offers hands-on animal experiences, meaningful animal encounters, and hands-on activities. Campers take part in creative activities and creative play. Programs for teens include leadership skills building and hands-on volunteer experience to connect with animals in a supportive camp environment.

• Ages: 6–15 years old

Each camp session is led by a Summer Animal Camp counselor who is supported by full-time, year-round Education staff with extensive experience in humane education. Animal Camps are structured as a typical day camp with an animal focus, with summer camps offered for rising 1st–9th grade campers and school-year camps offered for 1st–5th graders. Programs for teens are offered at different levels and interests, and each camp group is capped at 15 campers, with Jr. Vet Camp groups capped at 10 campers. Each camp group has two to four teen volunteers for support. A limited number of need-based scholarships are offered for camp programs, and a select number of camp spaces are held for campers needing financial aid even if a session shows as sold out before the scholarship application deadline. Parents register online by completing all preliminary forms, waivers, and payment, and no payments are accepted for waitlisted campers. Parents provide two daily snacks and lunch for their child, and East Bay SPCA does not provide any food items for campers. The East Bay SPCA is a local nonprofit that is not affiliated with any national organization and has obtained a four star rating from Charity Navigator and participates in GuideStar Exchange at the Platinum level. The organization’s mission states that all people, regardless of their housing situation, income level, race, spoken language, or access to resources, should be able to experience the joys of the human-animal bond.
