Beyond Montessori Preschool Immersion Program includes activities such as recycling, composting, and using recycled materials in the classroom. Children take part in music and movement, circle time, and cultural enrichment activities. The program also includes reading and writing using materials from Mandarin-speaking and Spanish-speaking countries.
Each teacher has undergone Montessori training. The program follows the classical teaching methods of Dr. Maria Montessori and offers a Chinese, English, and Spanish language immersion Montessori preschool experience. It uses a trilingual curriculum with 40% instruction in English, 40% in Chinese, and 20% in Spanish, with a liberal application of teaching materials formulated as 80% Chinese and English and 20% Spanish. All circle time includes cultural enrichment activities in Mandarin, English, and Spanish, and some teaching supplies are specially created by staff to supplement the children’s learning experience. Reading and writing materials come from Mandarin and Spanish-speaking countries, and the program uses an established preschool curriculum of 20% Spanish, 40% Chinese, and 40% English.
At Beyond Montessori immersion preschool, the stated mission is to expand upon Dr. Montessori’s methodology by showing respect for its classical intent while also encompassing the multicultural and multilingual society in which families live. Over a decade of practical experience and self-introspection has formed a philosophy grounded in cultural literacy and humanity. Since 2000, the previous school has been operated by two teachers of vastly different cultural backgrounds, who merged a Chinese and English cultural literacy program, and the current program is an extension and continuation of another Montessori school developed from the founder over the last 15 years. The multilingual preschool program has expanded to another Fremont location continuing the same educational pattern, and Spanish was added to the existing bilingual program of Chinese and English. The program serves families from the Tri-Valley, CA areas, including San Ramon, Dublin, Pleasanton, and surrounding communities.
