About
Academy of Play is a Spanish immersion preschool that offers immersive, play-based learning and daily immersion into the Spanish language through play and socialization. Infant through three-year-old classes are fully immersed in Spanish, and the program aims for each child to grasp and understand the language. Classrooms extend a clean, pleasant and cozy environment to offer an ideal learning atmosphere.
• Ages: 0–5 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday, 7:00am to 5:30pm
Academy of Play offers classrooms from 6 weeks to school age, with lesson plans tailored to each child’s unique developmental needs. The program maintains small student to teacher ratios, including a 1:3 ratio for infants, a 1:4 ratio for one- through two-year-olds, and a Pre-K class ratio of 1:10 or less immersed in Spanish. Pre-K includes one hour daily of Kindergarten prep in English to support children in being kindergarten ready. Families receive daily messages, updates, health checks, photos, and videos via Brightwheel.
The program states that its purpose is to provide the highest quality of childcare possible by creating a supportive and enriching environment based on the interest of the child. Its highly qualified staff become collaborators and co-learners as they plan and fully engage in activities based on each child’s interest. Academy of Play uses an anti-bias curriculum and environment in early childhood education and emphasizes continuity of care so each child stays with a primary caregiver and group of classmates at least through the first three years of age. The program describes a family-like atmosphere with decreased stress by valuing and practicing continuity of care and serves the greater East County area including El Cajon, Lakeside, Santee, Alpine, La Mesa, and Rancho San Diego.
