Colorspace Arts is studio space dedicated to providing a vibrant and accessible environment for art-making and arts education in the San Francisco Bay Area, including El Cerrito, Albany, Berkeley, Richmond, Oakland, and San Francisco. It offers a community-focused art space with a variety of art classes, workshops, and uninstructed sessions for both beginners and experienced artists. The site has been a hub for art classes and workshops organized by Liv and Chiu Art Studio for the past 3 years. Colorspace Arts, led by Susan Chuang, is taking over organizing the art programs starting July 2025. Susan Chuang is a figurative painter who has been pursuing art for 20 years and is a retired physician who practiced primary care medicine for three decades, and she has been directing the use of the studio for art education in addition to her own art practice. Colorspace Arts is on the Ambassador Committee for the El Cerrito Chamber of Commerce. The program plans to fill the calendar with art workshops taught by distinguished artists locally and from all over the country and offers opportunities for youth and adults to have in-depth learning with expert artists and teachers through extended weekly classes. For the Figure Drawing Workshop, the supply list includes an 18" x 24" pad of smooth newsprint, charcoal pencils (two each of 2B and 4B, with optional HB and 6B), a kneaded eraser, a sand paper pad or paddle, a box cutter or x-acto knife for sharpening pencils, and optional baby wipes for quickly wiping charcoal off hands.
