El Cerrito Youth Baseball is a community based, non-profit corporation and a volunteer-run organization. Its recreational baseball program is for boys and girls between the ages of 5 and 14 years old, with league age determined as of August 31 each year. The program offers a Shetland Baseball Clinic for girls and boys ages 5–6 and runs a Youth Umpire Program, an annual used gear swap, and a Financial Assistance Policy. El Cerrito Youth Baseball is affiliated with Pony Baseball, Inc and the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), and states that kids in the league learn sportsmanship, leadership, discipline, and teamwork while learning baseball fundamentals, building skills, and having fun.

El Cerrito Youth Baseball works closely with its members and community. It is connected to events such as a Berkeley High Alumni Game, where all proceeds directly support Berkeley High School baseball, and a Nations Fundraising Night at El Cerrito Nations, where funds are raised for El Cerrito Youth Baseball when customers mention the league at checkout.

El Cerrito Youth Baseball has a leadership structure that includes a League President, Division Presidents, a League VP, and a head umpire, and lists Erik Zalkin as a contact for volunteer roles. The organization received a $25,000 donation from Marcus Semien as part of his MLBPA Marvin Miller 2023 “Man of the Year” award selection. The program’s mission statement emphasizes teaching the fundamentals of baseball and emphasizing sportsmanship, teamwork, fairness, respect for self and others, discipline, and practice in a positive, fun, supportive atmosphere that encourages all players to challenge themselves on the field without fear of failure.
