El Monte Jiu-jitsu offers Brazilian Jiu-jitsu classes for kids and adults, including Littles, Big Kids, and Kids NoGi sessions, as well as adult Beginners Gi, Advance Gi, and NoGi classes. The program also includes kickboxing, MMA, women only classes, a womens self defense class, strength and conditioning, kids competition team training, and private lessons. El Monte Jiu-jitsu proudly represents the Checkmat family.

• Schedule: Youth and adult classes available Monday–Friday afternoons and evenings, with additional classes on Saturday mornings and late morning

The staff at El Monte Jiu-jitsu is composed of multiple-time black belts who guide and coach students, and the professors and coaches are current competitors with regular matches. The leadership team includes Professor Anderson Meneghetti, Professor Junior Fernandes, Coach Violet Pineda, and Coach Isabella Pineda. El Monte Jiu-jitsu is a family business, is a proud Checkmat affiliate, offers women only classes taught by women, provides kids competition team training by invitation only, and includes kickboxing and MMA classes at no additional charge for members ages 10 and up. The womens self defense class is free to all El Monte Jiu-jitsu moms, spouses, partners, and relatives, and strength and conditioning classes and private lessons with all professors and coaches are available. When someone comes in, the staff spends time discussing their goals, including learning to defend themselves, physical fitness, or competing at the highest level, and the program strives to help them meet or exceed those goals.
Checkmat, the affiliation represented by El Monte Jiu-jitsu, was founded by Master Leo Viera in 2008. The program states a commitment to the El Monte community’s rich history and to being active in the community while representing its fighting spirit at competitions throughout the state and beyond. The program asks participants to speak with staff about what equipment is required to participate.
