The Dolphin program is set up to give students a solid foundation needed to enter kindergarten confidently and successfully. Classrooms are arranged with centers for dramatic play, manipulatives, a quiet area, blocks and Legos, art, literacy and language, and math, with art always being the child’s choice and offered without examples, and with balanced indoor and outdoor playtime. The philosophy and purpose of Hilltop Christian Preschool and Day Camp are stated as promoting each child’s unique creative potential and encouraging self-esteem and positive self-concepts through Christian principles, with staff respecting each child’s emotional behavior through love, guidance, and acceptance of individual needs, speaking in positive terms, and setting positive expectations while offering a variety of activities and materials so each child can grow and learn at his or her own pace in a nurturing and stimulating Christian environment. The program is described as a faith-based, play-based, well-balanced preschool program for children two through five years of age and serves parents and children who live and/or work in El Segundo and the surrounding communities. The school is licensed, certified, and accredited to provide preschool and afterschool care, and the director is Eromie Kumarage. Teachers are educated in early childhood education, are CPR and first aid certified, and make safety a priority, and the facility has 24-hour surveillance cameras and a security system that requires parents to be buzzed in to enter the building.
