About

World Karate MAI offers Kids Beginner Classes, Advanced Kids Classes, Tiny Tigers classes, and a Martial Arts Weapons class. The Tiny Tigers classes are for ages 3–5. The Martial Arts Weapons class includes a mix of Filipino, Thai, and Burmese weapons, and participants in this class must be approved in advance.

• Ages: 3–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday–Friday during afternoon and early evening hours, with additional Saturday hours; closed Sunday and on listed holiday and seasonal breaks
• Price: 1X Introductory class $20. Kids Classes $200 per month; $300 for 1st month (Registration and Free White TKD Uniform, 1–2 times class per week). Tiny Tigers $145 per month; $225 for 1st month (Registration and Free White TKD Uniform, 1 class per week).

Kids Beginner Classes are offered on Tuesdays at 5:15 pm, Wednesdays at 6:00 pm, Thursdays at 4:00 pm, and Fridays at 5:10 pm. Advanced Kids Classes are offered on Tuesdays at 4:30 pm, Wednesdays at 5:15 pm, Thursdays at 4:00 pm and 6:30 pm, and Fridays at 4:00 pm. Tiny Tigers (ages 3–5) meets on Wednesdays at 4:30 pm and Thursdays at 6:00 pm. The Martial Arts Weapons class meets on Fridays at 4:30 pm. Operating hours are Monday through Friday from 3 pm to 8 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 5 pm, and closed on Sunday. There is a summer break with no classes from June 30th to July 3rd, 2026, closure on November 26th and 27th, 2026 for Thanksgiving, and a winter break with no classes from December 24, 2026 to January 2, 2026.

Instructor Cathy Mai is a lifelong martial artist with over 30 years of teaching experience and specializes in children’s martial arts at World Karate MAI. She earned her Tae Kwon Do Black Belt in 1994 from her husband, Michael Mai, whose lineage traces to Grandmaster Okyn Yoo, and her Bando Black Belt in 1995 under Dr. Maung Gyi. She holds black belts in Kali and Silat, instructor certification in Jeet Kune Do, and has training in Krabi Krabong. Her striking background includes Savate Silver Glove under Professor Nicholas Signac, Muay Thai Kru Level 3 under Ajarn Chai (WTBA), and boxing under multiple coaches. She is a weapons instructor specializing in staff, stick, blade, and traditional weapons. The leadership team includes Cathy Mai as instructor and lifelong martial artist, and Michael Mai, who awarded her Tae Kwon Do Black Belt in 1994.

The program’s stated mission is for students to build confidence through developed skills, to develop and strengthen their bodies, to have pride in their hearts, and to have the determination to never quit. The mission also states that students never fight for selfish reasons, that they will always defend and honor their families, and that they will help to build a strong and happy community.
