Elk Grove Musical Theatre Company offers children's musical theater with separate musical theater experiences for youth in a Jr. Cast and a Sr. Cast. The program includes twice weekly rehearsals leading up to tech rehearsals, followed by performances by the Jr. Cast and Sr. Cast and a combined Jr/Sr Cast show in April 2027.

The 2026–2027 season includes Jr. Cast and Sr. Cast shows performing January 21–23 and 28–30, 2027, with the Jr. Cast performing first each night, followed by an intermission and then the Sr. Cast show. Fall auditions for the 2026 season take place in September. Jr. Cast is for ages 7–13 and often uses a double cast, and Sr. Cast is for ages 12–18 with a longer show, and 12–13 year old performers can choose which cast is a better fit for them. Performers are required to provide a certain type of shoes and possibly basic clothing items such as specific underclothes or black pants and a white shirt.
Elk Grove Musical Theatre Company is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that is totally volunteer run and was founded by a group of parents in the Elk Grove area. Each play run is produced completely by volunteers, each family volunteers to help make the show a success, and the audition form includes a place for parents to specify which volunteer work they wish to perform. It is a part-time theater organization, and one set of shows each year is typically performed, with a second show sometimes performed in the spring. EGMTC has been performing quality children's musical theater in the Elk Grove area for over 20 years and has a reputation for quality performances and choosing theater pieces which are wholesome and uplifting. One of the founding principles was to provide a quality theater experience at an affordable price.
EGMTC's President is Angee Wangsgard, with Board Members Katie Sessions, Kate Nuttall, Sarah Clift, and Hilary Stevenson. The Sr. Cast Producer is Kate Nuttall, and the Jr. Cast Producer is Felecia Przybyla. This project is supported in part by federal award number SLFRP0166 awarded to EGMTC by the U.S. Department of the Treasury, and EGMTC survives and thrives on the goodwill of community members through time and monetary donations.
