Musical Mayhem Productions offers theater education for children through rehearsal classes, workshop classes, youth musicals, and a pre-professional training program called Master Academy. The program produces over 20 youth musicals each year with over 1,400 cast members and includes a nationally recognized year-long pre-professional training program with over 130 participants. Musical Mayhem Productions also serves as a pilot company that tests new youth musical adaptations before they are available to the public, including titles such as The Drowsy Chaperone Jr, 13 Jr, 9 to 5 Jr, Shrek Kids, Hans Christian Andersen Jr, and How to Train Your Dragon Jr.
Musical Mayhem Productions is a 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit corporation that provides theater education for children through rehearsal and workshop classes. According to its mission statement, the educational classes expand creativity and enhance confidence while conveying the importance of theater arts to the community through fun and entertaining performances, using a structured, educational, and fun program on and off the stage. MMP was founded in April 2012 and opened its doors on June 1, 2012, and was created to fill the need for theater arts for the children of Elk Grove, bringing live theater to thousands from Elk Grove and surrounding areas.
Musical Mayhem Productions has received multiple awards and recognitions. These include Theater of the Year from BroadwayWorld Sacramento Awards in 2018 and Most Loved Acting Studio 2019 from HulaFrog. The program has earned numerous Junior Theatre Festival honors such as Outstanding Production, Excellence in Music, Excellence in Dance, Excellence in Acting, Excellence in Ensemble, and individual performance awards across festivals in Atlanta, Sacramento, Texas, and West from 2015 through 2024. Additional recognitions include S.A.R.T.A. Elly Awards for Overall Production and Costume Design, the Freddie G Broadway Jr Spirit Award from Music Theatre International, and BroadwayWorld Sacramento Awards for Best Actor, Best Actress, and Best Musical in non-professional categories.
