Musical Mayhem Productions is a 501(c)3 tax exempt non-profit corporation founded in April 2012 that opened its doors on June 1, 2012. Its educational classes are described as enriching participants by expanding creativity and enhancing confidence while conveying the importance of Theater Arts to the community through fun and entertaining performances. The founders and staff have created a structured, educational, and fun program to maximize the theater experience both on and off the stage.
The organization was founded to fill the need of Theater Arts for the children of Elk Grove, CA and has worked with thousands of young performers from Elk Grove and surrounding areas, bringing live theater to thousands more. It produces over 20 youth musicals annually with over 1,400 cast members, and over 130 students participate in its nationally recognized year-long pre-professional training program, Master Academy. Musical Mayhem Productions is also a pilot company that tests new shows before they are available to the public, including The Drowsy Chaperone Jr (2019), 13 Jr (2022), 9 to 5 Jr (2023), Shrek Kids (2023), Hans Christian Andersen Jr (2023), and How to Train Your Dragon Jr (2024).
Musical Mayhem Productions has received multiple awards and recognitions, including Theater of the Year from BroadwayWorld Sacramento Awards in 2018 and Overall Production awards from S.A.R.T.A. Elly Awards in 2015 and 2017. Its productions and performers have earned honors at various Junior Theatre Festivals, such as Outstanding Production, Excellence in Music, Excellence in Dance, Excellence in Acting, Excellence in Ensemble, and individual performance awards between 2015 and 2023. Additional recognitions include the Freddie G Broadway Jr Spirit Award in 2018, Most Loved Acting Studio 2019 from HulaFrog, and costume and performance awards from S.A.R.T.A. Elly Awards and BroadwayWorld Sacramento Awards.
