Coastal Roots Farm Camp includes activities such as cooking, outdoor cooking, crafts, art, science, science experiments, engineering, sports and relay races, games, and exploring the garden. Campers spend time visiting the chickens, taking care of animals, doing farm and garden maintenance, harvesting farm-fresh snacks, and harvesting and making snacks. The program also includes singing, stories and songs, and developmentally appropriate nature exploration.

• Schedule: Seasonal Farm Camp offered during Spring, Summer, Fall, Thanksgiving, and Winter breaks, with most sessions running 9 a.m.–1 p.m. or 9 a.m.–3 p.m., and one two-week summer session
• Price: Session 5 (two weeks, July 6–July 17, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.) $775; Session 9 (August 10–14, 9 a.m.–1 p.m.) $400; Extended Care available for an additional cost
Spring Break Camp runs March 23–27 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Passover Break Camp runs March 30–April 1, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Summer Camp 2026 runs June 8–August 14, 2026, with Session 1 (June 8–12) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., Sessions 2–4 and 6–8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Session 5 (July 6–17) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., and Session 9 (August 10–14) from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Extended Care offers Before Care from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. and After Care until 5 p.m.
Farm Camp explores the natural world, the food system, and universally meaningful Jewish values, and is open to TK–5th grade aged children (minimum 4 years old) of all backgrounds. The program includes an Outdoor Cooking (Bishul Bachutz) Specialist and a dedicated outdoor kitchen that introduces campers to farm-fresh flavors. Coastal Roots Farm cultivates healthy, connected communities by integrating sustainable agriculture, food justice, and ancient Jewish wisdom.
The leadership and staff team includes Valerie Chouhan (Education Manager of Onsite Youth Programs), Megan Freeman (Education Manager, Technical Learning), Jay Friend (Camp Counselor), Keelin Grubb (Farm Educator and Volunteer Coordinator), Sharon Israeli (Outdoor Educator), Shyree Lopez (Seasonal Outdoor Educator), Jami Macleod (Outdoor Educator), Kim O’Donnell-Boyd (Culinary Educator and Community Programs Coordinator), and Sharone Oren (Education Manager, Camp and Community Programs). Staff experience and training include a B.S. in Conservation Resource Studies from UC Berkeley and over a decade of outdoor education experience (Valerie Chouhan), a degree in Sustainability from San Diego State University (Shyree Lopez), professional experience as a farmer and working with kids of all ages (Megan Freeman), and prior work in Biotech and Academia as a Product Manager for reagent kits and instruments used in nucleic acid analysis of biological samples (Sharon Israeli).
Coastal Roots Farm is a nonprofit community farm that offers a limited number of Farm Camp scholarships based on need and availability. Summer Farm Camp scholarships are provided in part by The Solomon Dutka Fund in the New York Community Trust.
