The San Diego Archaeological Center was founded in 1993 as a nonprofit museum where visitors can learn the story of how people have lived in San Diego County for the past 12,000 years. It was the first private nonprofit dedicated to the care, management, and use of archaeological collections. The Center also hosts the North County Archery Club on the last Saturday of each month, with all ages and skill levels welcome and gear available first-come-first-served, and it offers a Fall Camp where participants dig into the science of archaeology. The Indigenous Artisan Market is a free community event hosted by the Center and features handmade artwork, jewelry, textiles, pottery, carvings, and cultural crafts.
