San Diego Archaeological Center Youth & Family Programs

San Diego Archaeological Center Youth & Family Programs includes Kids Dig Archaeology: K-12 Educational Programs. The offerings include Museum Activities, All About Archaeology, Experimental Archaeology, Classroom & Library Outreach Programs, Tribal Outreach Activities, and Scouting Programs. Field trip programs can include exhibit tours, interactive programs, and take-home activities.

About the provider

The Center was founded in 1993. Its mission is to use archaeological inquiry to foster understanding of past and present cultures, and to enhance science and citizenship education. It offers field trips and outreach programs for schools, organizations, home school groups, libraries, small groups, and scout groups, and tribal outreach activities are taught by a Kumeyaay descendant.

Supports current Common Core content standards. Home school visits can be customized. For some scout activities, outdoor clothing, pants, and closed toe shoes are required. Scouting America archaeology merit badge current requirements can be reviewed on Scouting America’s website.
