BEAS Academy offers a mix of art, exploration, sports, nature activities, games, crafts, and social activities. Campers take part in themed days, and activities are hosted outside when the weather allows. The program is a nut free program, and campers are asked to bring a water bottle, snacks, and sunscreen each day.

BEAS Academy’s mission is to provide support to families and help students improve academic performance, close achievement gaps, enhance social-emotional well-being, and increase lifelong potential for success through classes and educational enrichment, after-school programs, and parent education. The program offers classes in core academic areas of math and literacy that are integrated with the arts, generally combining visual arts with math and performing arts with reading and literacy. BEAS Academy states that it provides a progressive educational environment in a safe and loving space for students, with a curriculum rooted in values and focused on giving a perspective of history and the modern world. The program is focused on growing a strong social emotional after-school program, with a goal of addressing the growing need for social development in school-age children.
The founder, Barbra Williams, has worked as a special education teacher and later as a behaviorist in the public school system. BEAS Academy is a 501(3)(c) organization. The program works with local home school charters as an approved vendor and is on the approved vendor list for The Cottonwood School, Visions Charter School, and South Sutter Charter Schools, and it continues to develop community partnerships with school sites, local experts, and professionals.
The program shares several educational quotes, including “If things start to happen, don’t worry, don’t stew, just go right along and you’ll start happening too” by Dr. Seuss, “The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you” by B.B.
