Jeff Miller and Tom Finch serve as camp counselors. Jeff Miller is an experienced professional musician, guitarist, and singer/songwriter who has toured nationally, most notably with local band New Monsoon, and has performed for sold-out crowds at the Fillmore in San Francisco and at venues including Red Rocks in Colorado. He has written, produced, and recorded many studio releases with New Monsoon, The Contribution (featuring members of Railroad Earth, String Cheese Incident, and ALO), and a solo album where he played and recorded all the instruments. Jeff has been teaching guitar and bass in Marin County for over a decade, specializing in teaching young beginner and intermediate musicians, and has been counseling rock band camps and workshops in Fairfax for over 10 years. Tom Finch is a California native and multi-instrumentalist of over thirty years, influenced by rock, blues, and jazz styles, and is a Gulf Coast Music Hall of Fame inductee. Tom has toured throughout the U.S., Europe, Japan, and Canada, is featured on many albums with groups such as Big Brother & the Holding Co, Jazz Iguanas, and Pamela Parker, and leads his own groups. His formal training includes more than 10 years of study in music theory, composition, performance, and education at Sonoma State University, College of Marin, and Mills College, and he has taught music privately and in school programs for more than 20 years.

Parent testimonials describe kids attending camp for multiple summers, practicing nightly at home so their band would not be let down, and performing at an end-of-camp show that parents attended. One parent notes that their 12-year-old is “shredding” after doing camps with Jeff and then taking regular lessons with him. Another parent reports that their teen’s band has worked with Jeff for a couple of years and now plays paid gigs, and describes Jeff as combining being “cool” with being a professional who can guide the band.
