Be Prepared

To fully enjoy the Ross Valley Mountain Bike Camp and Marin County mountain biking we've pulled together some must haves to ensure everyone is smiling and safe at the end of day.

  • A Bike Service - A full bike service at your local bike shop prior to the camp. OR: Ensure bike is well maintained with fully functional gears, tread on the tires and lube on the chain
  • "Large Cogs" / Easy Gearing - Adequate gearing to keep pedaling when going up hill
  • Helmet - A helmet that fits your kid's head. This is a must - No helmet. No ride.
  • Lunch  - We supply the snacks. You provide the lunch. Each rider will be given a handlebar bag 9"x 4.5" to carry their lunch
  • Water Bottles - Bikes need to have at least 1 water bottle (and cage). Preferably 2. Alternatively a hydration pack
  • Sun Cream  - Apply sun cream before riding. We'll have extra on hand if needed.

Lightweight, clothing, gloves for additional coverage is advised.

Frequently Asked Questions

How To Determine if Your Camper Is Beginner Or Advanced?

We have a large diversity of riders from ages 8-14 years old who come from all kinds of riding backgrounds, from beginners to advanced. We split into two groups for the week, beginner/intermediate and intermediate/advanced groups, to give each rider the best camp and Marin County mountain biking experience.

Beginners would be riders who need to get off their bike just a few times riding up Shaver Grade from Deer Park School to 5 corners. (As a point of reference, this climb is approximately 1.5 miles with a mixture of gradients and undulating surfaces)

Advanced would be those who can ride up, barely getting off their bikes. If a rider is in the wrong group, we can move them up or down a group after the first day

Does My "Camper" Need To Be An Experienced Rider?

No - the only expectation is they can ride a bike safely. During the week we'll focus on core skills, team building and enjoying the outdoors on bikes. The primary focus is fun and building confidence, so they can get the very best from Marin County mountain biking
