About

Noyo Food Forest Youth Education & Internships offers garden-based education in local schools, with hands-on learning about gardening, nutrition, and the environment. Participants learn practical skills such as gardening, composting, and sustainable food growing through activities connected to community-based agriculture and regenerative growing practices. The program includes paid internship opportunities focused on these hands-on learning experiences.

Founded in 2006, Noyo Food Forest is an education-based farm-to-school nonprofit serving Fort Bragg youth and community. Its mission is to act as a hub for education in community-based agriculture and to explore topics such as nutrition, sustainable pest management, biodiversity enhancement, carbon sequestration, and other climate-resilient practices. The organization has been cultivating a local healthy food system since 2006 and is dedicated to cultivating fresh, sustainably grown food for the Fort Bragg Unified School District’s Farm to School program. It hosts the North Coast’s annual Earth Day Festival and works year-round so Mendocino Coast youth and community members can learn about, grow, and access garden-fresh food. The program is supported through plant and produce sales, donations, grants, and the dedication of staff, board members, students, and volunteers.
