Odyssey Preschool & Montessori follows a Montessori approach that uses hands-on learning experiences and materials that are systematically arranged from left to right, progressing from introductory to advanced levels in mixed-age classrooms. The program focuses on social and emotional regulation, language development, gross and fine motor skills, pre-reading and writing tools, mathematics, cultural diversity, sensorial experiences, and practical life skills. It is described as a bilingual school where teachers can speak Mandarin with children, and potty training at the preschool is described as wonderful. The curriculum incorporates global perspectives and multiple languages and engages with multiple languages in the classroom, reflecting the diversity of the Bay Area and fostering respect and understanding among children from various backgrounds.

Odyssey Preschool & Montessori was founded in 2009 by Prabha Sanjay and started as a family day care center in the founder's home. In June 2010, Prabha secured a site on Pilgrim Drive, marking the transition from a home-based daycare to a full-fledged preschool, and in 2012 the program moved to its current Foster City site, expanding from one classroom to five. By 2018, the program launched Odyssey Toddlers and Odyssey Montessori in Palo Alto.

Odyssey Preschool & Montessori collaborates closely with a Montessori teacher training center to provide guidance and training to interns, and many classrooms are supervised by one or two Master Teachers. Anne Diamond, an experienced Montessori educator and director, was one of the first hires, and Mandy is the director of the school in Palo Alto. Odyssey is among the Montessori schools recognized as training centers and is fully equipped with an extensive range of Montessori materials. The Foster City location holds Lic # 414002941, and the Palo Alto location holds Lic # 434415246.

The mission of Odyssey Preschool is to be a child-centered learning community committed to respecting the unique personality, gifts, and development of each student. The program promotes a culture that fosters kindness, curiosity, and cooperation, with a goal of cultivating both independence and an awareness of global interdependence. Odyssey states a commitment to creating an inclusive, respectful, and empowering educational environment that celebrates diversity and encourages lifelong learning.
