• Ages: 5–18 years old
From its beginning in 1999 in a garage with a handful of students, Aerodance grew into an academy. The program is based on a strong classical foundation, and its Semi Classical Program follows a syllabus that touches the roots of all classical dance styles and is simplified for the younger generation while keeping the style trendy yet conservative in approach. Choreography at Aerodance uses dance steps that are culturally appropriate and presented in a creative, energetic manner, and the academy takes care to keep costumes dignified, tasteful, and culturally appropriate.
Aerodance diligently works towards its mission by paying personal attention to students and monitoring them closely, with progress assessed periodically and class performance discussions that support thinking skills. Students at Aerodance are described as inculcating values of life and working towards a better tomorrow. The director, Ms. Ranjani Avijit, has a double master’s in Child Psychology and is a Kuchipudi exponent.
Aerodance became a forerunner in winning Bay Area dance competitions and is a pioneer in issuing certificates for its Semi-Classical dance course. Aerograduates are described as empowered Semi Classical Aerodancers and receive an international certificate issued by UNESCO in the field of Semi Classical dance. The academy also hosts AEROVAGANZA, an annual recital that showcases the growing levels and talent of all students in the academy.
