Soccer Teams is a program where kids and youth spend time playing soccer as part of Afghan Coalition’s soccer team. Participants receive coaching and mentoring from the soccer team staff. The program is led by Mr. Hassan Qaderi, who serves as the soccer team coach and works with over 50 Afghan kids and youths.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
With close to three decades of experience, Afghan Coalition has supported thousands of Afghan families in the Bay Area and beyond. Its mission is to empower Afghan communities in the United States by providing essential services and support to help Afghan families thrive in their new home. The soccer team is part of this work and focuses on Afghan refugee and immigrant children and youth in Northern California. The program is connected with broader community resources and partner organizations, including City of Fremont, 211.org Resources, The Council on American–Islamic Relations, IRC, Jewish Family and Children's Services, BRFN (Bay Area Resource for Newcomers), and Sparkpoint.
