Since 1971, the Alisa Ann Ruch Burn Foundation nonprofit organization has been dedicated to delivering prevention education and services to burn survivors, their families and caregivers in California. Its mission is to significantly reduce the number of burn injuries through prevention education and to enhance the quality of life of those affected by burn injuries in California. Survivor services programs span hospital and post-discharge aid and information to Camps, Retreats and Adventures for burn survivors and their families. The Safe and Warm program addresses burn patients from the unhoused community with a compact package that teaches strategies for keeping warm and preventing burns. Many burn survivors served later volunteer and contribute stories that are part of the services.

Champ Camp is described as a life-changing experience for youth ages 5–17 where kids have the opportunity to learn new skills, build confidence, and enjoy recreational activities in a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment. Leadership for these programs includes Katrina Arthur, AARBF Associate Director, and Alison Clark, Board Member. Community involvement includes events such as the Fresno Urban Run and the 3rd Annual 9/11 Memorial Stair Climb hosted by Paso Robles Professional Firefighters Local 4148, both benefiting AARBF. The organization partners with The Midnight Mission in Los Angeles on a compact Safe and Warm package and works with sponsors and partners including fire agencies, medical centers, community organizations, and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. One testimonial from Board Member Alison Clark states, “It is remarkable to see Alisa’s memory shared and the positive impact she has made. So many people believe in our mission and are willing to bend over backwards to support our services for kids, survivors and one another.”
