Math Crazy offers one-to-one tutoring for students of all ages, with no contracts required. Students are given an evaluation to determine their strengths and weaknesses, and the program is built to fit each student’s needs. Students can be tutored anywhere from one to four times per week during the year, and can come 1x, 2x, or 3x a week in the Summer Program. The reading program is designed to fit the individual needs of K–12th grade students and focuses on phonemic awareness, phonetic skills, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension. The program uses informal and formal assessments to monitor each student’s progress, set goals, and plan instruction. SAT, SAT II, and ACT subject programs use study guides, flash cards, and practice tests, and the CAHSEE program uses the same study guides, practice tests, and techniques that districts such as Fresno and Clovis Unified use.
Math Crazy states the mission, “We build confidence. We teach with patience. Learning should be fun!” The program has over 35 years of experience and has been a People’s Choice Winner for Best Tutorial Center. It is a locally owned small business serving the community and notes that it is ambitious in working to achieve family goals and will work with any and all schedules. Payment is due before receiving tutoring services, at least 4 hours’ notice is required for cancellations, and if a family cancels 3 lessons in a row, the student is taken off the regular schedule and can call to schedule a new time. The program also invites students to “Come meet Molly our Chief Happiness Officer!!”
One testimonial from Janae describes using Math Crazy for Math 3, Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, SAT Prep, and Physics, and mentions raising an SAT score by about 100 points. Another testimonial from Jeffrey describes starting statistics without prior understanding, then attending Math Crazy for support in AP Statistics and other subjects such as algebra and history.
