About
Math Crazy offers personalized one-on-one tutoring in a wide range of subjects, including Medical Math, CBEST, CSET, Math 3, Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, Physics, Algebra, History, Biology, English, Spanish, and Reading. The program also provides SAT Prep tutoring, SAT tutoring for both mathematics and verbal components, SAT II subject tutoring, ACT subject tutoring, and CAHSEE tutoring. Students are given an evaluation to determine their strengths and weaknesses, and Math Crazy builds a program to fit each student's needs, including options for in-person and online tutoring throughout the school year and summer.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Instruction available Monday–Thursday from 12pm–8pm, with Friday–Sunday by appointment only; SAT program seminars are offered on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm
Math Crazy states that it has over 35 years of experience and is a locally owned small business serving the community. The program offers one-to-one tutoring for students of all ages, with students able to attend anywhere from one to four times per week, and staff will work with any schedule. Special arrangements can be made for onsite tutoring at local colleges or online tutoring from home, and no contracts are required, with payment due before receiving tutoring services and at least 4 hours’ notice needed for cancellations. The program’s mission statement is “We build confidence. We teach with patience. Learning should be fun!” and it has been a People's Choice Winner for Best Tutorial Center. Math Crazy also offers a reading program for K–12th grade students that focuses on phonemic awareness, phonetic skills, vocabulary, fluency, and comprehension, using informal and formal assessments to monitor progress, set goals, and plan instruction, and uses guided practice and making reading fun to support students in becoming independent, lifelong readers. SAT, SAT II, ACT subject, and CAHSEE programs use study guides, flash cards, practice tests, and techniques that are also used by districts such as Fresno and Clovis Unified, and the SAT program can be taken during the school year or summer, either privately (one tutor with one student) or in a group seminar. The program notes that students can come meet Molly, the Chief Happiness Officer, and mentions a Spring semester BOGO special.
One testimonial from Janae describes using Math Crazy over the years for Math 3, Chemistry, AP Calculus, AP Statistics, SAT Prep, and Physics, and reports raising an SAT score by about 100 points after SAT Prep there. Another testimonial from Jeffrey describes starting statistics without understanding the material, then attending Math Crazy for AP Stats and algebra and seeing grades improve.
