Priority Basketball Academy offers private one-on-one basketball training sessions and group basketball training class sessions. Players work on shot mechanics training, ball handling, offensive and defensive movement and positioning, offensive footwork, post player footwork and movement, shooting drills, rebounding skills, jump shot practice, defense drills, and overall skill development including speed, agility, and coordination. At least half of each session is focused on teaching and improving fundamental skills.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Group training classes meet two times per week in monthly class sessions, with group class times including Grades K–3rd at 6 pm and Grades 5–6 at 7 pm, and group training class sessions for Clovis Unified, Central Unified or other areas in the Central Valley running through August 31st; times and days are subject to change.
• Price: Group training classes are $125.00 per child for two classes per week for each month ($125.00 per student per month).
Priority Basketball Academy accepts all ages up to 18 for private sessions and offers a POP IN package that allows students to attend group sessions after the month has begun at a pro-rated rate, with a minimum of 5 or more students required for a full group class. The program is not equipped and is unable to accommodate special needs children at this time. The academy includes an athletic and personal development focus that covers mental toughness, strength and conditioning, nutrition, leadership, life skills, and character development.
PRIORITY Basketball Academy’s mission is to create a basketball experience for youth that focuses on educating and developing life skills, with a goal of providing a specialized program that addresses athletic potential as well as the academic and social needs of student athletes. The program emphasizes both basketball and academics under the theme “KIDS ~ BOOKS ~ BASKETBALL,” with attention to academic levels and helping students achieve academic goals before they go on the court, and it offers incentives and ways to cover educational book costs and resources to assist in academic growth.
Coach Gerald Perry leads Priority Basketball Academy and has over 30 years of coaching experience, has “Coach of the Year” distinction in both California and Washington, and played for Fresno State. Coach Perry initially started the basketball academy formerly known as “The Basketball Academy” 15 years ago and is also the CEO/CFO of Jewell Enterprise, which owns and operates Priority Basketball Academy. The program has been described as one of the best youth basketball development training programs in the Central Valley. One parent testimonial states, “I have seen tremendous growth in my child's basketball abilities since joining Priority Basketball Academy. The coach is extremely knowledgeable and supportive, and the program has helped instill discipline and confidence in my child.”
