About

California Sports Center offers gymnastics, dance, CSC Ninja, preschool classes, spring and summer camps, birthday parties, neurodivergent gymnastics classes, a recreational gymnastics program, competitive gymnastics, and competitive dance. The program teaches gymnastics, dance, and ninja in fun, safe, and progressive learning environments for kids ages five and under. It also runs boys and girls recreational and competitive gymnastics programs and dance teams.

• Ages: 0–16 years old

CSC states that children who are active in its fun and progressive learning environments develop into happier, healthier adults. CSC was the first gymnastics club in the country to partner with Positive Coaching Alliance, and it encourages coaches to be “Double Goal” certified through this organization. CSC has partnered with Lisa Mitzel and Dr. Alison Arnold for mental training and mental health, and in 2022 it added “Zen Tiger Mind” Mental Power Stations into its gyms and conducted a full set of trainings for athletes and coaches.

The program offers neurodivergent classes with their own curriculum and smaller class ratios than some of the other classes already on the schedule. Its recreational gymnastics program introduces girls and boys to the basics in a fun, safe, and supportive environment. Girls team athletes can choose to compete in USA Gymnastics Development Program Levels 3–10 or NGA as Silver–Diamond, and CSC runs boys gymnastics programs including USA Gymnastics Development Program Levels 3–10, Future Stars, and NGA teams. Dance teams are based out of the Cambrianna and Race Street locations, and CSC also offers an online ProShop with CSC swag from Champion Sportswear.

Team training at CSC focuses on developing life skills such as teamwork, confidence, self-control, advocating for yourself, leadership, discipline, perseverance (“grit”), and healthy habits. One parent, Monica T., shared that her daughter started gymnastics and hip-hop dance, waits the whole week for the next class, loves the lessons, and that the coaches are kind and patient. Another parent, Trulie H., described the coaching staff as knowledgeable and skilled, noted that they connect with the kids and create a supportive environment, and said their daughter has gained confidence, resilience, and a sense of pride in her accomplishments.
