About
Act One Theatre Camp offers daily acting, singing, dancing, movie-making, make-up, improv, on-camera, and design activities. Campers create and star in their own theatrical adventures and take part in an end-of-camp Big Show. Each session features unique and exciting classes and includes a collection of camper-created content in the Act One Vault.
• Ages: 6–15 years old
• Schedule: Session One: June 15 – July 2 (No Camp on 6/19 or 7/3); Session Two: July 6 – July 24; Session Three: July 27 – August 14
• Price: 3 Weeks for $1199
Act One Theatre Camp offers three sessions, and each session is completely different, with a new and original play written exclusively for each camper group. The camp opened at Glendale Community College (GCC) in 2022 and will be returning to the Glendale Community College for 2026. The program has been featured on “Today in LA” on NBC in 2020.
The leadership team includes Mr. Josh as Camp Director and Improv Teacher, Miss Amanda as Singing Teacher, Miss Lynne as Dance Teacher, Miss Stephanie as Design Teacher, a TBA On-Camera Teacher, and Miss Meaghan as Assistant Camp Director. Mr. Josh has been teaching children's theatre for over 20 years through summer camps, after-school programs, and a Saturday Improv Class. Miss Amanda has over twenty years of professional musical theatre experience, is a graduate of the USC School of Dramatic Arts, and performs year-round with various groups. Miss Lynne is from the Academy of Villains dance company and teaches dance at Marymount High School. Miss Stephanie is a teacher at Laurence School in Sherman Oaks and has taught theater for many years in roles ranging from instructor to program director. Miss Meaghan focuses on sparking creative imaginations in her students and continues her work with Act One with a passion for children's theatre.
According to the mission statement, Act One Theatre Camp is a dynamic and interactive theatre experience where campers ages 6–15 spend each day acting, singing, dancing, and more, and all levels of experience are welcomed, from shy wallflowers to class clowns. Campers showcase their talents for family members at the end-of-camp Big Show.
