Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara Gymnastics Program offers recreational and developmental gymnastics classes, including Mini Stars parent participation, Preschool Bronze, Bronze Stars, Silver Stars, Gold Stars, and Sapphire, along with an invitation-only Xcel program as the next level. The program also offers a supervised two-hour Open Gym where participants can train on all apparatus, and a Gymnastics Summer Camp with weekly themed sessions such as Surfing into Summer, Superheroes, Olympics, Disney, Safari, Under the Sea, Galaxy of Stars, and Summer Finale. Equipment available in the facility includes a 40 ft. Tumble Track, a 40 x 40 ft. AAI Spring Floor, an AAI International ELITE Vault Table, AAI Classic Balance Beams and Low Balance Beams, a Speith Anderson Competition Beam, sets of AAI Elite Uneven Bars, and a Stall Bar Workstation with Rings.

• Ages: 12 months–18 years old
• Schedule: Class sessions range from 45 to 120 minutes; Open Gym runs for 120 minutes on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 p.m.–10:00 p.m.; Gymnastics Summer Camp runs 9:00 a.m.–3:00 p.m. with extended day available from 3:00–5:00 p.m.
• Price: Classes range from $86.50 to $118.50 per 4-week month; Open Gym is $12 per drop-in; seasonal registration fees are $10–$15 per child; Gymnastics Summer Camp is $360 with extended day available for an additional $60.00.

Mini Stars is a parent participation class for co-ed gymnasts ages 12 months to 3 years 11 months, led by an instructor with age-appropriate courses at Vault, Bars, Beam, and Floor, where parents assist their child at each station with guidance from the instructor. Introductory classes such as Preschool Bronze and Bronze Stars focus on fundamentals like cartwheels, handstands, and other beginner skills, with placement into recreational or developmental classes depending on each child’s goals and evaluation for those with previous gymnastics experience. Gold Stars is for gymnasts who want to keep working on developing skills and work toward advancement such as Sapphire and Advanced Tumbling, and Sapphire is by invitation only as the highest-level recreational class leading into the invitation-only Xcel program. The program offers recreational classes for girls and boys ages 12 months–18 years, with a 1:6 preschool coach-to-gymnast ratio, 1:8 ratio for Bronze and Silver classes, and 1:10 ratio for all other classes, and advance registration is required with space limited to maintain these ratios. Multi-class discounts are available, and there are no sibling discounts, financial assistance, or make-up classes offered.

Programming is described as evidence-based and delivered by trained professionals who focus on the development of the whole girl, and programs support, mentor, and guide girls ages 5–18 in an affirming, pro-girl environment. The mission statement for Girls Inc. of Greater Santa Barbara is, “We’re building a new generation of strong, smart, and bold leaders in our community.” The organization states that its partners expand opportunities and provide vital support to all girls. One participant, Lily, age 15, shares that gymnastics has impacted who she is as a person, noting that through conditioning, hard work, and long practices she has learned how to push through to achieve her goals and feels stronger emotionally from competing and facing her fears.
