Valley Stars Basketball Academy was established in 2016 as a nonprofit organization. Its mission is to redefine success both on and off the basketball court by instilling fundamental life skills and fostering resilient communities where at-risk youth can thrive. From the beginning, it has aimed to ensure that every child, regardless of financial situation, background, or athletic ability, has equal access to the opportunity to play basketball and develop their self-esteem and confidence.

The program’s primary goal is to equip young athletes with basic basketball skills while fostering self-esteem, confidence, and camaraderie among teammates. Elite coaches with years of experience create a fun, inclusive environment where teamwork and community-building are at the forefront. Coaches prioritize integrity, teaching life skills alongside basketball fundamentals, and are committed to creating a positive and encouraging environment where every player can grow and enjoy the game.

Valley Stars Basketball Academy is led by Founder, Executive Director, and Coach Keith “Kiki” Esparza. The organization is dedicated to building resilient and healthy youth by fostering a love of basketball together.

Parents describe Valley Stars as more than just a group of basketball teams and say it has created a family where kids love playing and volunteering to help the organization. One parent notes that Coach Kiki’s energy and love of basketball are contagious and that the healthy competition taught there transcends the sport. Another parent shares that coaches hold kids accountable by telling them what they are doing well and how to be better, and that kids take pride and ownership in the program by helping with scoring, working the concession stand, and setting up for games.
