Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company presents classic theatre productions and summer productions that include performances of classic plays. The program also offers workshops, presentations, summer camps at local schools, theatre experiences, casting for productions, voice lessons and exercises, photography sessions, and monthly 30-minute yogic breathing exercises called Yoga for the Voice.

Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company is now in its 14th year and is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization. Its mission is to produce classic theatre each summer in the community of Half Moon Bay, California that is accessible, entertaining, challenging, educational and enlightening for both audiences and players alike. The organization aligns with local arts organizations, businesses, trusts, and other entities in the San Francisco Bay Area Peninsula and Coast and has a zero tolerance policy toward any actions of discrimination. It is committed to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion through programming, casting, education programs, and community outreach activities, and presents classic plays in a variety of settings to show diverse perspectives.
The company strives to reach underrepresented communities through workshops, presentations, and summer camps at local schools to cultivate a safe space for learning and make theatre experiences accessible to all. It supports other local organizations such as educators, other theatre companies, and volunteer fire departments, and provides discounts to its performances for groups and young audiences. Its vision includes partnering with local organizations that aid underrepresented groups and work for social justice, offering scholarships for marginalized students, and creating a more diverse board of directors. Community members can join the board of directors in volunteer roles, and board members receive complimentary tickets to all summer productions.
The leadership team includes Ray Renati (Artistic Director), Lee Ellis (Co-Founder/Acting President/Treasurer), Nicole Henares (Board Director), Sue Savich (Board), and Robert Pickett (Co-founder and Artistic Director, in memoriam), along with the board of directors of Half Moon Bay Shakespeare Company. Ray Renati completed the Summer Acting Shakespeare program at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), is a graduate of UC Berkeley, and is a co-founder of The Pear Theatre in Mountain View, California, where he served for fifteen years on both the Artistic Steering Committee and the Board of Directors. Nicole Henares holds a B.A. in English from UC Davis, an M.Ed. in Cross-Cultural Curriculum from National University, and an MFA in Writing and Consciousness from the California Institute of Integral Studies. Sue earned her BA English and MBA degrees from San Jose State.
