About

Launch Pad Learning Summer Programs offers an 8-week summer camp experience that includes activities such as Art, Music, STEM, Physical Education, Dinosaurs, Life on a Farm, Multiple Cultures, and Ocean Adventures. Children take part in hands-on STEM activities, creative expression, science and discovery, and language and reading development. Past summer activities have included a classic summer water day with swimsuits, water shoes, a sprinkler, a wading pool, and other water activities, as well as a “drive-in” movie night where Toy Story was watched under the stars.

• Ages: 2–5 years old
• Schedule: Monday–Friday with extended care hours from 6:00 am to 8:00 pm; 8-week summer camp sessions that typically begin the week after graduation in June

Launch Pad Learning Summer Programs takes place at Launch Pad Learning, an Infant & Toddler Care and Preschool Center that has large, sectioned play yards for running and playing, a spacious classroom, and “home”-cooked meals prepared in facility kitchens. The program is part of a year-round preschool that offers care options starting at 6 weeks old, state programs, summer programs, potty training, extended care, and homemade meals, along with a structured environment with play-based, hands-on activities. Each child receives a free monthly book to encourage reading and parent-child relationships, and the center offers free, high-quality care and education for infants, toddlers, and preschoolers for qualifying families.

Most, if not all, teachers are CPR/First Aid certified, all teachers have at least 12 ECE units and either hold or are working toward a CDE Permit, most teachers have college degrees, and many staff members are bi-lingual or speak more than one language. The leadership team includes Executive Director Ms. Deidre and Director Ms. Netsi, and the program is backed by more than 20 years of experience in child development. The heart of Launch Pad’s mission is to provide a nurturing and educational environment for children all year long, and the program holds CA CDSS license #197495378.

Launch Pad Learning Summer Programs partners with local businesses and public centers for in-house field trips, including visits from Cabrillo Marine Aquarium, the Reptile People, Farm Friendz, and a kid’s musician. The program also partners with community organizations such as Westside Infant-Family Network, police and fire departments, and the cities of Hawthorne and Long Beach, along with parents, staff, and children, to provide high quality care.
