Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club focuses on teaching volleyball fundamentals and competing. Each team practices 2–3 times a week and competes in regional and national tournaments. Each team has two experienced coaches and the club emphasizes teaching fundamentals, competing, and having fun.

Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club was founded in 2006 by Larry and Christine Mirick with one boys' 12s team. As interest grew, the club expanded in 2008 and again in 2009. That first team earned three Junior Olympic medals in four years. In 2011, Michael Boehle and John Beckwith took over ownership, and today Michael Boehle is the sole owner and is listed as Owner & Director. The club states that it emphasizes not only volleyball skill development but also shaping respectful, well-rounded young men, and that its players will become better volleyball players and, more importantly, outstanding respectful young men doing things the “right” way. The club notes that strong coaching, committed players, and team camaraderie contributed to its early success and that it maintains core values and a family atmosphere. Manhattan Beach Surf Volleyball Club is proud to continue its sponsorship with Asics, and its website is powered by SportsEngine's Sports Relationship Management (SRM) software.
