Mamá Maestra Spanish Enrichment Education offers Spanish language learning through games, interactive lessons, songs, stories, music, movement, pictures, and puppets. The program includes reading engaging stories in Spanish, bilingual story time, and songs and activities that match the stories.
• Ages: 2–18 years old
Spanish language instructors are true native speakers who were born and raised in a Spanish-speaking country, and they are described as highly qualified, experienced, and reliable. Instructors undergo training and leadership mentoring. The program offers before and after-school Spanish programs, customized Spanish classes brought to schools before or after the regular school day, and one-on-one sessions. Classes are available for all ages from preschoolers to high schoolers, and language classes are tailored to the child’s ability and age group, with a small teacher-to-student ratio. Interactive sessions with songs and games are conducted all in Spanish, and the curriculum includes games and lessons about Latin American culture and Spain. The curriculum meets California Spanish Language Development Standards and ACTFL Standards, and the teaching method is influenced by Dr. Stephen Krashen’s theory of second language acquisition. The program also offers Bilingual Story Time for all ages through Los Angeles County Libraries. The mission of Mamá Maestra Spanish Enrichment Education is teaching Spanish in a fun and engaging way and making sure every child has a great learning experience learning Spanish with the program. The founder and director is Pilar Martín DeNardo. The program partners with both private and public schools, offers classes in many school districts, provides Bilingual Story Time through the Los Angeles County Libraries, and aims to bridge language and cultural barriers in the community.
