Steel Futures is a soccer-oriented child development program that uses a nationally developed curriculum to improve fundamental soccer and motor skills, including the ABCs of athleticism: Agility, Balance, and Coordination. It is structured as a stepping stone toward competitive club soccer with Steel United and includes interaction with high school–aged player volunteers in a family and club environment. Club teams are formed on a selective basis through annual tryouts and have a high standard of commitment, effort, and dedication from both players and parents. Showcase teams focus on getting players in front of college scouts, and the Steel United College Development Program educates players and parents on the soccer recruitment process and the general college admissions process through seminars, webinars, videos, and interactive sessions.

Steel United California is part of a larger organization that includes 150+ coaches, 200+ teams, and 2500+ players across 8 states. The coaching staff is professional and qualified, with 100% of coaches background checked. Program director Paul Payne is a 27-year veteran of college coaching with an extensive network of coaches, colleagues, and administrators in the college athletic world. Steel United staff have developed more than 30 academy players in the past five years and, since 2010, have supported the placement of over 500 players into college soccer programs, along with hundreds of alumni who chose not to play competitive soccer in college. The Steel United National Program brings boys and girls from across the country together to train and play in an intensive atmosphere, giving elite players competition beyond their local Steel United team and exposure to a professional level program. The program’s mission is to inspire youth to reach their potential, on and off the field, by developing them as athletes and people through the Steel Sports Coaching System.
