Golden West College Summer Swim Lessons offers swim instruction and swim lessons that include water safety, water polo, and private swim lessons. All classes are held on the Golden West College Pool Deck and include options for both group and one-on-one instruction. Classes are offered for all ages, from infants through adults.
• Ages: Infant–18 years old
• Schedule: Summer sessions run Monday–Thursday between 9:00 AM and 4:30 PM in three separate two-week sessions (June 22–July 2, July 6–16, and July 27–August 6)
The program has been providing swim instruction for residents of Orange County since 1983 and follows the direction of the American Red Cross and its development and standards for water safety. All instructors have received extensive water instruction training uniquely designed for the facility and are American Red Cross certified in Lifeguarding, First Aid, and CPR. The program also incorporates techniques and drills promoted by the United States Swim School Association. Class size ratios are Parent & Me (12:1), Transitional Parent & Me (4:1), Preschool Starfish/Guppies/Seahorse (4:1), Minnow/Stingray/Seal/Piranha (old Levels 1–3) (6:1), Shark/Dolphin (old Levels 4 and 5) (8:1), Water Polo (12:1), and Private Swim Lessons (1:1). A parking pass is provided on the first day of lessons for the entire summer swim lesson period, must be displayed on the dashboard at all times, is not valid in staff or metered parking, and citations are given if parked in metered or staff stalls marked yellow.
