FOCUS Dance Center

FOCUS Dance Center offers Universal Excellence Training Classes in all styles of dance for beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers. It also offers Tiny Dancer, recreational dance, competitive teams, Stargazer Teams, adult classes in Tap, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and more, fitness only classes, Competing Programs, Open Company Training Blocks, a yearly prestigious concert opportunity, and summer camp, workshop, and intensive programs.

Programs

• Universal Excellence Training Classes — 2.5 to 102 · ongoing weekly · Beginner, intermediate, and advanced dancers; all styles of dance; on-going with no set beginning or ending dates; three yearly informal/inhouse showcase/progress presentations.
• Adult Classes — adults · Classes in Tap, Hip-Hop, Ballet, and more.
• Fitness only Classes
• Competing Programs — Ages 4-18 for Competition Starter Program; Company PRO and Company are also offered · Includes Company PRO, Company, and Competition Starter Program.
• Open Company Training Blocks — Offered to non-auditioners; extra opportunity for non-competitive and competitive dancers.
• Yearly Prestigious Concert Opportunity — Separate from training classes.
• Summer Camp/Workshop/Intensives — Summer programs introduce students to a variety of dance styles and master teachers.
• Tiny Dancer — 4-8 · Introduction to dance movement and music, coordination, teamwork, socialization, imagination, structure, motor skills, listening skills, storytelling with movement and facial expressions.
• Recreational dance — 7-18 · Builds confidence, coordination, fitness, artistry, creativity, and socialization in a fun and positive environment.
• Competitive teams — 4-18 · Builds confidence, coordination, fitness, artistry, creativity, and socialization in a fun and positive environment.
• Stargazer Teams — 4-18 · Introduces beginning and intermediate dancers to the basics of competing performance in a positive encouraging environment.

About the provider

FOCUS Dance Center was established in 2003 and has offered dance training in Irvine for more than 20 years. It is led by three-time Emmy-nominated Monie Adamson and approximately 30 credentialed and talented individuals. The program statement says it focuses on dance performance and fitness, and on self-confidence, teamwork, discipline, creativity, and a passion for the arts. It also includes the FOCUS Building Youth Charitable Foundation Dance Arts & Fitness Scholarship Classes for low-income children and fundraising partnerships for school programs and non-profit organizations.
