About

FOCUS Dance Center offers Universal Excellence Training Classes, competing programs, open company training blocks, a yearly prestigious concert opportunity, a Spring Concert Series, and Summer Camp/Workshop/Intensives. Students can take classes in tap, hip-hop, ballet, contemporary, jazz, K-pop, Pilates, strength and conditioning, theatre song and dance, tumbling, and acro, along with adult and fitness-only classes. The program also includes activities such as competitions, conventions, audition training for dance agency preparedness, college resume building, professional photoshoots, bonding rallies, master classes, and free dance and fitness classes through the FOCUS Building Youth Charitable Foundation.

• Schedule: Class and program options are available during business hours Monday–Thursday 10 am–9 pm, Friday 10 am–8 pm, and Saturday 9 am–2 pm
• Price: The Spring Concert Series involves a participation fee and costume charges for each dance, with every participating dancer responsible for these fees; additional costs may include accessories and basic makeup, and optional costs may include reserved seating, professional photos, a USB of the performance, and flowers.

FOCUS Dance Center was established in 2003 and has been offering dance training in Irvine for more than 20 years, with a reference to 21 years since its establishment. The award-winning Commercial Dance Studio is led by three-time Emmy-nominated Monie Adamson, who co-established FOCUS Dance Center in 2003 with her husband Darick Parrish and leads a team of approximately 30 highly credentialed and talented individuals. FOCUS professional faculty bring decades of expertise and talent to every class.

FOCUS Dance Center states that its “FOCUS” is on inspiring students and athletes of all ages and levels in the pure fun and artistry of dance performance and fitness, providing benefits of physical, mental, and emotional health and wellness through high-quality training and techniques. The program emphasizes creating a kind, supportive, and inspiring community where all feel welcome, cultivating creativity and talent, building confidence, self-esteem and discipline, promoting self-confidence, teamwork, responsibility, socialization, and a passion for the arts, and providing a positive and safe environment to unite and experience the balance between the Art of Dance, the Entertainment of Dance, and the Joy of Dance.

FOCUS offers three award-winning competing programs called Company PRO, Company, and the Competition Starter Program, with the Competition Starter Program specifically for ages 4–6 as a beginning or entry-level competitive program. Open Company Classes are offered on an ongoing basis throughout the season to non-auditioners, and there is a yearly prestigious concert opportunity separate from training classes, along with a Spring Concert Series held in early May with participation by most Universal Classes that are not labeled specifically as technique classes. Universal Excellence Training Classes include ongoing weekly growth encouragement training with no set beginning or ending dates, and dancers advance through three rankings within each training level (such as 1A, 1B, 1C), with three yearly informal in-house showcase or progress presentations for advancement and evaluations or progress reports available upon request.

FOCUS Dance Center is described as an award-winning studio and an award-winning Commercial Dance Studio, highly recognized for its diversity of dance styles and known for its professional training. The studio is known for diversity in ages and levels from beginner to professional, for ages from 2.5 to 102, and for diversity in styles including ballet, hip-hop, tumbling, acro, tap, contemporary, jazz, K-pop, Pilates, strength and conditioning, theatre song and dance, and more. FOCUS Building Youth Charitable Foundation gives the gift of positive life skills through free dance and fitness classes to economically disadvantaged children.

FOCUS Dance Center offers School Fundraising Partnerships, where school teams or programs can earn money when students enroll in a dance class at FOCUS. Public-school dance, cheer, theater, marching band teams or programs, and other non-profit organizations such as Girl Scouts or sports teams can earn money when members enroll in a dance class at FOCUS, and FOCUS states that it is passionate about bringing the Orange County community together in celebrating and supporting each other and the healthy vibes of dance.
