Korean American Center Korean Language Programs and Tutoring is led by certified instructors and certified teachers. Its roots trace back to 2013 as an informal group, and it was formally established as a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization in 2015, with 10 years serving the community. The organization was designated as an Irvine King Sejong Institute in 2018, received the STARTALK grant from 2018–2023, and achieved WASC accreditation in 2025. Its mission is to reclaim, preserve, and share Korean language and culture while building bridges across generations, communities, and cultures.

The program is the first accredited Korean language center in the U.S. and the first and only WASC-accredited Korean language center in the U.S., with WASC-accredited Korean courses that can earn high school credit. It is designated as a King Sejong Institute by South Korea’s Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism and has been recognized by CBS News, NBC, The New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and leading Korean media. It has been awarded the STARTALK grant by the National Security Agency from 2018 through 2023 and is described as the gold standard in Korean language education in the United States. Its WASC-accredited programs span from kindergarten through adult, with live online Korean classes for adults, teens, and youth nationwide, in-person classes in Irvine, and award-winning virtual programs serving all 50 states, DC, Puerto Rico, and Canada. Students range from absolute beginners to advanced learners, including both heritage and non-heritage learners, and the program offers Korean classes for high school credit that can help students qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, as well as personalized one-on-one Korean tutoring with flexible scheduling and semi-private lessons. The program reports that 91% of students re-enroll for additional classes and that it has delivered 27,000 instructional hours online and in person, serving learners from kindergarten to adult learners in all time zones.

Korean American Center Korean Language Programs and Tutoring provides free youth leadership opportunities, supports linguistically isolated seniors, offers immigration guidance, and connects families to essential services like food assistance. It merged with Korean Community Services (KCS Health Center) in 2018 and later returned to independent operations while maintaining a strong, strategic partnership with KCS, working closely with KCS to strengthen and support the Korean American community.

Parents and students describe teachers as patient, encouraging, energetic, and kind, and note that instructors are described as fantastic with kids and that classes are described as enjoyable and fun. Testimonials from adult, teen, and youth learners mention starting with zero Korean knowledge and later being able to read Hangul and hold basic conversations, gaining knowledge about Korean history and language, and wanting to keep learning more Korean. Families and students also report that students look forward to class, use Korean with relatives at home, feel closer to Korean heritage, and value both in-person and online class experiences.
