SoCal Elite Youth Basketball & Volleyball Programs was founded in 2003 and operates as SoCal Elite Sports, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit youth sports organization. The organization states that its mission is to educate youth about all aspects of sports, promote the life lessons that sports generate, and promote good health and high activity levels to all participants. It notes that all basketball coaches are former basketball players who have coached at a high school, college, and/or professional level, and that all volleyball trainers are professionally trained and have high-level volleyball experience. The program states that all skill levels are welcome, that players are grouped by age or ability and by similar skill level, that levels are skill-based rather than age-based, and that the coaching staff evaluates and places players in the correct level after the first workout. It also notes that it offers professionally managed, year-round youth basketball and volleyball programs, including a year-round Volleyball Academy League program that is closed on holidays, and that its nonprofit primary focus is improving each child’s overall experience.
The program describes its environment as safe, community-based, friendly, and constructive at all age levels. It states that the Weekly Volleyball Academy focuses on basic volleyball fundamentals such as setting, passing, footwork, hitting, and defense, and that the Weekly Basketball Training Academy has four different skill levels: rookie, beginner, intermediate, and advanced. The organization states that it is committed to serving the community.
Parent comments mention positive experiences with summer camps, the volleyball program, the regular league, and travel teams, including references to coaching, communication, organization, and training. One parent notes that their child progressed from a summer program to an Intermediate Plus weekly volleyball class, and others describe participation in both recreational league play and club or travel team settings over multiple seasons.
The program states that each basketball participant must bring an appropriately sized basketball and their own refreshments, and that players are recommended to bring water or other refreshments and wear comfortable athletic apparel such as athletic shorts, rubber-soled closed-toed shoes, and short sleeves, with no jeans or sandals. Volleyball Academy League participants are required to bring their own appropriately sized volleyball, and knee pads are listed as optional.
