• Schedule: School-year and summer options Monday–Saturday, generally between 9:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m.
The Artist Lab was established in 2015 and was originally founded as the “Little Artist Lab” in Tustin before branching out under its current name. The program’s mission is to unite communities through the arts and to keep creativity alive across generations, with a stated belief that art is humanity’s most universal language and is essential for expression, understanding, compassion, and connection. Its philosophy is inspired by Picasso’s words, “Every child is an artist. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
The Artist Lab is guided by accomplished fine art and design educators from prestigious art schools, including an art director, a portfolio director, and a digital art director. The leadership team includes Mr. Gabe (Art Director & Instructor, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Laguna College of Art+Design, Illustration, Drawing, & Painting), Mr. Andy (Portfolio Director & Instructor, Master of Fine Arts, ArtCenter College of Design, Painting & Illustration), and Mr. Bin (Digital Art Director & Instructor, Bachelor of Fine Arts, Cal State Long Beach, Illustration, Digital Art, 3D Design). Additional instructors include Ms. Beth (BFA, RISD, Drawing & Painting, Printmaking), Ms. Alyson (BFA, Mercy College, Illustration, Digital Art & Design), Ms. Rupy (MFA, Laguna College of Art+Design, Drawing & Painting), Ms. Agna (BFA, Cal State Long Beach, Drawing, Painting, and Illustration), Mrs. Anderson (Bachelor of Fashion Design, Otis College of Art & Design, Fashion Design), Mr. Blake (BFA, Cal State Long Beach, Pottery, Ceramic Sculpture, and Design), Mr. Ricardo (Bachelor in Entertainment Art, Cal State Fullerton, Digital Media & 3D Design), Ms. Ring (M.Arch Architecture, UCLA & UC Santa Cruz, Architecture Design & Game Design), Ms. Michaela (BFA, College for Creative Studies, Illustration and Concept Art), Ms. Jasmine (BFA in Illustration, Cal State Fullerton, Illustration), Ms. Margo (BFA in Illustration, Cal State Long Beach, Drawing, Painting, Illustration and Digital), and Ms. Bravo (BFA in Illustration, Cal State Fullerton, Illustration).
The Artist Lab states that it focuses on bridging the gap between high school and higher education for aspiring artists and offers specialized programs across a diverse array of artistic and design disciplines. It attracts over 600 families each week from across Orange County and beyond, both in-person and virtually, and describes itself as more than an art studio, but as a space where creativity flourishes and communities come together. Its Summer Camps and Portfolio Training are described with the phrase “Create, Compete & Have Fun at The Artist Lab 2026 Summer Camp & Portfolio Training.”
A student testimonial from Jayden W. notes multiple years of attendance, a sense of inspiration from seeing the artwork in the studio, and describes the teachers as motivating and enthusiastic in supporting students’ creativity and artistic skills.
