About
USSD Irvine Northwood Martial Arts offers martial arts and self-defense training through both Personalized Training and Group Training Programs. The program includes a Teen & Adult Program and provides specialized self-defense classes for groups, schools, and corporate environments. Martial arts training is conducted under the guidance of a professional USSD Irvine Instructor.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Class and training options are available Monday–Saturday during afternoon and evening hours on weekdays and morning to mid-afternoon on Saturdays.
USSD has been teaching martial arts for self defense since 1968 and has been sharing the martial arts in Irvine for over 40 years. The core philosophy of USSD Irvine Martial Arts training is non-violence. The program uses a unique self-defense system that allows techniques to be adjusted to fit physical ability, strengths, and limitations, and lessons can be modified to physical ability, age, and interest. The Personalized Training program allows students to progress at their own pace and focus on their needs and interests, with a flexible training schedule that fits lessons to the student's availability. According to the program’s stated information, students can advance up to 4 times faster than with group lessons alone, and students with personalized lessons are more likely to achieve Black Belt. The program states that practice of martial arts under a professional USSD Irvine Instructor is safer than most school sports, and that training is designed to improve both mind and body while preparing students to defend themselves and build self confidence and empowerment. Children advance at their own pace without the pressure often part of team sports. USSD Irvine also offers specialized self-defense classes for groups, schools, and corporate environments either onsite or in their studio, and offers a complimentary week of training as a free trial.
