L’Academy Kensington/Berkeley offers Spanish and Mandarin immersion with English language readiness, along with activities such as art projects, painting, cooking projects, storytelling, rhythm, song, and outdoor play. Children also take part in sensory exploration, Music/Performing Arts enrichment, and a Kung Fu enrichment class. The program uses a blended curriculum that combines Montessori, Reggio Emilia, and play-based learning, and includes daily updates for parents on children’s learning, progress, and classroom experiences.

L’Academy Kensington/Berkeley offers programs for infants, toddlers, preschool, and TK/Pre-K age children, with Mandarin and Spanish immersion available for ages 5 months to 6 years. The program provides year-round, full-time care with fewer than 20 school closure days per year, full-day care with minimal closures, and rolling, year-round enrollment based on availability. Healthy meals and snacks are provided daily, including hot, nutritious meals made in-house, often with organic ingredients, and potty training is not required. The program maintains a low student-teacher ratio and operates under License Number: 73409614.

The mission at L’Academy Kensington/Berkeley is to help children build confidence, independence, and a lifelong love of language and learning. The Kensington/Berkeley location also serves families living in Oakland, El Cerrito, and the surrounding East Bay.

Regional Director Rachel Hendrix earned her B.A. in Sociology from the University of the Pacific and has over ten years of experience in Early Childhood Education. Ms. Tatiana completed her child development studies at City College of San Francisco, and Ms. Grace holds a Master’s degree from Huazhong University of Science and Technology and a Bachelor’s degree from the Communication University of China.

One parent, Claire & Julien from San Francisco Nob Hill, CA, reported that their son has been attending for six months, that the teachers are wonderful, the space is clean and full of engaging activities, and that their son is picking up English, Spanish, and Chinese, with multiple updates and photos shared throughout the day. Another parent, Maria from Sacramento Midtown, CA, stated that the staff is very welcoming, the school is exceptionally clean and well-sanitized, and that her child comes home singing songs and naming colors in Spanish. Ryan from Santa Clara, CA, noted a strong focus on early language development and that this was the only preschool toured that offers three different languages, each taught by professional and passionate teachers. Rebecca from Cary, NC, shared that her daughter is in the Mandarin program, enjoys smaller class sizes and caring teachers and staff, and that their family values the language immersion aspect.
