About

Great Futures Productions offers theatre experiences that include classes in singing, dancing, and acting. The program produces five musicals and one play each year, and also runs Musical Theatre Troupe performances, Summer Camp, Day Camps, Specialty Camps, Sports Camps, Theatre Champs, and Beach Days. One of the five musicals each year is produced in partnership with Incline High School.

Great Futures Productions is a Children's Theatre Company at The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe. All performers in the cast are required to become current members of The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe, sign up for a BGCNLT Annual Membership, and register for the production Once Upon One More Time on MyClubHub before the first scheduled rehearsal. The Musical Theatre Troupe is a group of 20 students from the musical theatre program in grades 5–12, and the troupe performs at events throughout the year in the North Lake Tahoe and Reno communities.

According to its mission statement, Great Futures Productions creates theatre experiences that educate, challenge, and inspire young people and their communities, and is dedicated to enriching the lives of young people through performing arts that support individual expression, ensemble teamwork, and positive role modeling. The Boys & Girls Club of North Lake Tahoe states that its mission is to inspire and enable all youth, especially those who need it most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible community members.

The program’s leadership team includes Sara Turner, Director of Great Futures Productions & Performing Arts Coordinator; Mindy Carbajal, Chief Executive Officer; Stephany Arroyo, Director, Fund Development; Katie Leao Geiser, Director of Administrative Services; and Lorelei Van Peborgh, Preschool Director. The troupe has won two talent competitions over the past four years, traveled to Long Beach, California in 2014 to perform at the Boys & Girls Clubs Pacific Regional Conference, and in September 2017 ten students performed at Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas to open the Pacific and Southwest Region Leadership Conference. In April 2024, the troupe opened for the 30th Anniversary of Broadway Comes to Reno at the Pioneer Center. The program has also offered a Summer Children’s Show titled “Wizard of Oz” and has announced new expanded hours for Day Camps.
